If King George III had conducted his war with France more responsibly, he wouldn’t have had to squeeze his colonies for so much tax revenue and there wouldn’t have been a war for independence in America. Over time, England and France would have divvied up all of North America except for what are now the southwestern states, would still be part of Mexico. By 2024, the rest of the continent would most likely have ended up with two equally large and wealthy nations, one part of the British commonwealth and one independent but culturally more French. Hard to know what that would look like of course, but I’ll bet we wouldn’t be begging the people of Pennsylvania not to vote for Donald Trump right now. The point is, this is all King George’s fault and we should stay focused on that.
